Black Science incoming...
It was way back in February last year when invited the legend that is Ashley Beedle
to our Soul Buggin' party and we had such a monster session we thought we just
had to get him back again to lay down some of that black science magic at our new home The Bodega Social Club.
Ashley Beedle is one of the UK’s most prolific DJ/ Producers with an enormous body of work under various guises and production monikers. He has remixed and produced an astonishing number of major artists including Elton John, Bob Marley, Horace Andy, The Rolling Stones, The Streets, Mick Jagger, India, Masters At Work, Mika, Sade, Bent, Jamiroquai, Candi Staton, Lily Allen, James Blunt, Gabriella Cilmi, Femi Kuti, Blaze, Armand Van Helden, The 2 Bears and that's just off the top of our heads!
DJs from all over the globe ranging from Greg Wilson, Gilles Peterson, Kenny Dope, Francios K, Ross Allen, Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Laurent Garnier, The Unabombers and Andrew Weatherall all champion his extensive back catalogue of remixes and edits and music collectors with any clout have at least one of his records in their collections.
This promises to be a special session indeed so get Saturday 26th May stuck firm in your diary
Doors open at the slightly later time of 11pm and it's a fiver in all night.
Musical back up as usual comes from the Buggin' hairy layabouts Wrighty, Beane and Mark A

The return of the P!
Hot, sweaty, crazy scenes at our last party with Crazy P last month and with a big crowd in the place it was great to finally welcome Crazy P to our humble little disco shindig. Many thanks to Jim, Chris and Danielle for coming down to play and as always all you crazy loons that come to boogie. Here are a few pics for those mentalists that missed it.

Get some some disco back up yer jumpers
After a long 4 months Soul Buggin' returned with a vengeance last Sunday as we opened up our account at the Bodega Social Club here in Nottingham with a right old Easter knees up. It had seemed like an absolute ice age since our last New Years Eve party when we waved goodbye to Moog, got all tearful and packed up our bags littlest hobo stylee and hit the road. So come Sunday we were right pumped up for our party with Faze Action and Leftside Wobble and what a fun night we had. Massive shouts to all those that came down, rubbed us up funny, got on the good foot and generally let loose. Here's a few pics that have surfaced from our favourite sex photography Nick Clague.

So as mentioned a few months back our plan at The Bodega Social Club is to put on parties on the last Saturday of the month, just like we used to at Moog, so we don't want you to lose the plot but we've got another little session up our sleeve for Saturday 28th April where we'll be starting our monthly residency good and proper with a right line up. What better way to lay down our gauntlet we thought than to welcome Nottingham's very fine Crazy P Soundsystem to join us for a bit of the old good good.

Due to their rising success that has been like a tidal wave these past few years Crazy P have been playing all over the world so we're super excited to have them join us at Soul Buggin' which feels like a well overdue appearance. Regular readers and disco fiends won't need any back story from me on this blog but for those who have been living in a cave these last 15 years or so have a wander round their website here. Expect a DJ set mixed in with keyboards, a sampler and live vocals. Definitely one not to be missed!
Doors open at the slightly later time of 11pm for this one but we'll be partying on till 4am to make up for it. Oh and it's only a fiver on the door too. Aceness all round.

Springtime Buggin' Bunny
Spring. YES. The bastards arrived at last. Lighter nights, chocolate eggs and the resurrection of Soul Buggin'. Its been almost 4 months since our NYE party and you've all had long enough with your feet up so as the warmer weather begins to tickle our neither regions we're about to rise up with a vengeance, just like that hairy jesus bloke did at Easter. He was allegedly supposed to preach 'have a bloody good un' as well so you could call this the second coming but to be honest we've had more second comings than Ron Jeremy these past few years so let's just say we're just happy to be back.

It all kicks off on Easter Sunday 8th April at The Bodega Social Club on 23 Pelham Street with our big Bank Holiday party. We've invited not one but two special guests to join us for this one in the form of Faze Action and Leftside Wobble. Entry 6 squid in on the door and we'll be going on till late and as no ones got work the next day you can treat yourself to an extra shandy. Facebook event here! Invite yer weirdo mates
Oh and be sure to check out both our guests Soundcloud pages for loads of mixes, remixes and edits to get your chops into.
Faze Action here
Leftside Wobble here

If you can't wait till the bank holiday (and who could blame yer) then why not come and join us at The Broadway Cinema on Saturday 24th March where we'll be playing at the after party for the Ozwald Boateng special gala premiere of 'A Mans Story'. The flim looks cracking and they'll be doing a Q&A afterwards too.
So we're looking forward to shaking a leg with you soon

Soul Buggin' bugs out at Sounddhism

So last week we finally revealed our new home where we'll be continuing our monthly disco-inspired nonsense and rest assured our plans are coming together nicely for our first party on bank holiday easter Sunday 8th April. Before we unveil our line up and further details on that party it's worth a mention of another little session we've been asked to play at the same venue on Saturday March 3rd called Sounddhism. We played there last year with Simbad and Natalie Duncan and had a laugh so they've invited us back and put us in charge of their late night dancefloor joystick (oo-er) alongside Brownswood Records rising star Pedestrian, Harleighblu, Hannah Heartshape and Georgie Rose. Tickets are a fiver for that session and we're treating it as a nice little unofficial warm up for our big relaunch the following month.
Check out the Facebook Sounddhism page for full details of that session here

Soul Buggin' finds a new home...

So after weeks of speculation, drunken banter and plenty of poking and prodding from inquisitive disco fiends at 6am after parties we can finally reveal our new home in 2012 - The Bodega Social Club, 23 Pelham Street, Nottingham. Check their website out here for what goes on.
Since we learned of the very sad closure of Moog late last year we've been trawling Nottingham's basements, boozers and bars for a suitable alternative that not only could adequately host our little monthly disco but more importantly prove suitable for our antics, punters and visiting guest djs. To say this was a headache is an understatement but after much deliberation, head scratching and generally weighing up the price of fish we came to a decision that not only made perfect sense but would enable us to continue where we left off and provide just the right space for our party.
The Bodega Social has played host to a ridiculous amount of bands and djs over the years, far too many to list here and for a central city venue is about as eclectic as you'd hope to find musically. Already home to thriving alternative club nights like Sounddhism and Highness we're honoured and excited to be welcomed onto the roster. When we told Raul (the Soul Buggin' online master swordsman) he instantly striped off and tried to neck a whole carton of Sunny Delight. What a crazy fruit.
So I guess the next question is when is the next party? Well in true Soul Buggin' fashion our eyes always hover over a good old bank holiday so our first 'official' party will be on Bank Holiday Easter Sunday 8th April. Full line up yet to be confirmed so keep your eyes on the blog for updates over the next few weeks but we'd love you to all come down and break us in proper. After that we'll be going out on the last Saturday of the month, just like we did at Moog, so no need to mess about with your diaries, child care or more importantly your sunday morning carers/chemist/eastenders omnibus settings.
More news soon cometh but get that date in your diaries and get some new pants on order
