Get on the Leftfoot

For those of us into their leftfield music the name Leftfoot has always shone brightly and we at Soul Buggin' are pleased to welcome residents Adam Regan & matt Beck along for a night of mighty fine music.

Leftfoot was founded by Adam & Richard Whittingham at Custard Factory in Birmingham. Quickly making a name for itself as the place to head for quality music ranging from house to hip hop, disco to latin and tecno to afrobeat. The night was voted as best club night on Gilles Peterson on his Worldwide Radio Show and went from strength to strength bringing in some big hitters as guests to their night including Gilles, King Britt, Carl Craig, Kenny Dope, Mr Scruff, Dego & Jazzanova.

We run from 11p.m. - 4a.m.

Entry £5 OTD

Get a nice Hot Toddy down yer...

"When it's spring again we'll sing again, tulips from Amsterdam" said somebody once, but not us, oh no. Springtime to us doesn't mean tulips from the Netherlands, instead our thoughts turn to Hot Toddy from Crazy P.

Of course Mr Todd has played at Buggin' before as part of rather splendid night featuring Crazy P Soundsystem, but we thought we'd invite him along to fly solo this time on Saturday 29th March @ The Bodega, Pelham Road, Nottingham.

Hot Toddy has been releasing quality tunes for the last 15 years on some of the best independent labels around including PapeRecordings, Winding Road and Eskimo, and has also put his hand to some rather brilliant remixes for the likes of Joey Negro, Fred everything, Mousse T, Lovebirds & of course Crazy P.

We're really rather pleased that he's found time to play in his adopted city as he can generally be found rocking dancefloors across the globe.

Support comes from residents Wrighty & Beane

Entry is £6 on the door

Downstairs in the bar we have Ny & Cyclonix doing their thing

Set piece punishment

With Saturday night still ringing round our ears we'd just like to say a big thank you to all those that came down to The Bodega for our Soul Buggin' session last weekend. Top crowd, top vibe and a great night. Big ups must of course go to our guest Dego who played a blinder.

Here's a few pics from the session

2000 Black flavours

You know what we love most about February? It's bloody short so you only have to wait 4 weeks between your dose of Buggin'. Following on from Lucy Locket's rather brilliant set we have one of the true inspirations of music over the last 20 or so years - Dego.

We've been big fans of Dego's productions for as far back as we can remember. Whether it be the sublime music of 4 Hero (alongside production partner Marc Mac), the superb output from his 2000 Black label or more recently his collaborative work with Kaidi Tatham (amongst many many others) Dego has always pioneered forward-thinking soulful music across all tempos that we absolutely love.

So it's no secret that we are super excited to be welcoming Dego to our dancefloor on Saturday 22nd February at The Bodega here in Nottingham.

Musical back up with be supplied by residents Wrighty and Beane.

We look forward to shaking a leg with you at this one.

Get ready to hit the sales hard...

So then January eh, it's a right rascal isn't it? You've maxed out your cards at Xmas, joined a new gym (you've even been twice), given up just about everything fun and not had a giggle since NYE. We hope you had a good one at our soundclash with the DiY boys. We had a ball but now we've sorted out the cutlery draw that is our heads it's time to tell you about what we've got up our sleeves next.

Come the end of the month you'll be itching to get back on it and give it the full disco treatment but the bank account wont take a heavy one. What to do? Well luckily we at Buggin' Towers have the solution, for the second year running we present The Soul Buggin' January Sale, where we offer cheap entry, cheap booze but the same high quality dancefloor business.

Helping us out this month we have one of very favourite DJs, the rather magnificent Lucy Locket. A true disciple of all things disco Lucy regularly spins at Manchester's legendary Homoelectric night and can also be found supporting the likes of Joey Negro, Rahaan, Horse Meat Disco & Al Kent as well as rocking Leeds high quality ssssshhh night 'Cosmic Slop'. For those of you who missed her last visit, assure yourself that you are in for a treat this time round.

Check out her sounds over here: http://www.mixcrate.com/lucylocket

Support comes from Wrighty & Beane

Entry is a mere £3 before midnight and £5 after and there are drinks offers until 1 a.m.

Downstairs in the bar we have invited Dreshom, from KADINSKY RECORDS, to spin for us.

2014 - Let's have you!

Soul Buggin' vs. DiY NYE Soundclash!

So then. 2013. Almost done. What a year it's been eh. We'll perhaps do a proper review once we've got the party season out the way and let the dust settle but before all that you need to know about this.

This New Years Eve we've decided to return to the upstairs loft-style room of The Old Angel down Stoney Street in Nottingham. We had a belter last year so we thought lets do it again and this time we've invited DiY party stalwarts Woosh and Osbourne to join us on the decks.

If you're after a little intimate party in dark room that'll be high on the music quality front but low on the wallet then get your shuffle on down to this soiree.

We'll be running from 10pm till 4am. Entry will be £5 on the door. No tickets. First come first served

Let's see in the New Year right (or wrong as the case will probably be)
